Do I have to do the 30 minute consultation first?
Yes, the 30 minute consultation is required first as it builds the foundation for our relationship and gives you the opportunity to get to know me and ask questions about my services before committing to a higher energetic and financial requirement. The consultation also helps us determine areas that you feel you want help with before going straight into coaching, so it helps direct us and ultimately can save us time with guess work.
Is Holistic Nurse Coaching covered by insurance in Canada?
YES! But currently only in certain circumstances*.
Most insurance companies (such as Blue Cross) will cover services for IN HOME Nursing care with a note from your primary physician. Unfortunately, in most cases, this does not cover virtual care. I highly recommend speaking with your insurance company to inquire if any coverage is available and what the requirements/limitations include, then to speak with your physician. Also, if you have a health spending account with your work, sometimes Holistic Nurse Coaching can be covered, but is on a case by case basis and depends on the health account. Again, speak with your insurance company/employer. If you do decide to work with me, we can look into any possibilities this service can be covered as I understand financial requirements can create hesitation to accessing this service. I will work with you to see if any of the payment can be covered or if we can come up with another payment agreement.
*The United States recently was able to push for insurance coverage for Holistic Nurse Coaching in 2021 and we are hopeful Canada is not too far behind. I am currently leading a focus group of Nurses and other like-minded individuals to have all Registered Nursing services covered in Canada, whether in home or virtually.
What kind of education do you have?
Currently I am a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from MacEwan University. Within my RN career, I have taken multiple courses related specifically to each area that I have worked (emergency, women’s surgery/health, post partum, home care, surgical recovery). For Holistic Nurse Coaching specifically, I have taken the Comprehensive Holistic Nurse & Nurse Coaching Certificate Program: An Integrative Approach to Holistic Care of Self & Others program through the Canadian Institute of Integrative Nursing Development and Education (The CIINDE) and am now a CIINDE Certified Holistic Nurse Coach (CCHNC). Through the CIINDE, I have also taken a spirituality course that focuses on spirituality as a health indicator. In 2023 I completed Level 1 of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or “tapping” which is an alternative medicine modality used for nervous system regulation in conjunction with psychological supportive measure. In the future, I plan to become board-certified through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) as a Holistic Nurse Baccalaureate (HNB-BC), Nurse Coach (NC-BC) and/or a Health and Wellness Nurse Coach (HWNC-BC), and to broaden my education in the future in relation to Reiki and holistic nutrition, to name a few. As a Registered Nurse I am constantly doing research on my own in order to stay up to date with the most current evidence. If you would like to know more about my education or experience, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Do you offer your services in person?
YES!
Currently I do see my clients in person in the comfort of their own homes. I follow the most strict guidelines on infection prevention and control and regularly screen for health concerns that can affect in person services. If you prefer not to see me in person, I also serve my clients virtually. All of my clients register and have an account through the Practice Better portal, which is a very streamlined website/app for your phone that allows me to share information, complete video sessions, send you forms, complete notes, book appointments, and send invoices.
*Please note the 30 min Holistic Nurse Coach Consultation is only offered via phone or video.
